Original issue, standard Department of Defense Language Familiarization Course booklet, size is 5" x 7", stapled, dated May 1961.

This is not a commercial print or copy but an original issued government print. Booklet is titled - KURDISH, Language Familiarization Manual, 41 pages. This is one of a series of manuals published by Educational Services, Washington DC for the Department of Defense for language familiarization courses.

Each manual covers the following words or phases in three forms (English, Pronunciation, Spelling) - Introduction (how to use the language study guide, pronunciation hints); General Expressions; Personnel Needs (food shopping, at the hotel, at the restaurant); Time, Numbers, Colors; Communications (at the Post Office, Telegraph Station, Telephone, Bank, Customs House); Transportation (means of transportation, railway travel, at the airport, driving an automobile (road conditions)(directions), automobile maintenance); Military Terms (ranks, military branch or service, military specialty, personal status, vocabulary, commands); Geographic Terms; Appendix (international road signs, important signs, road signs, index of important words in this book).

There are no illustrations in this manual.
