October 12, 2008 /RPS Opinion/ - Well, the spin doctor, Baschar al-Assad, is out spreading upon all his goodwill and generosity. Grateful Anericans must be, and shall remain, to the demands of his supreme being.
It is not enough that two American journalists have been kidnapped from Lebanon (Not inside Syria, but inside Lebanon, which by the way Assad still considers Syria) by the spies and thugs of the regime ruling our country but his spin machine in the west is countering the attacks made by the journalists themselves, mind you, by telling the world that the US should be grateful because Assad released the two Americans.
We have a person working at our Embassy in Washington DC named Ahmad Salkini who takes barking orders from our Ambassador Imad the Kermit (Or is it ribbitting orders - anyway, thank you Alfred for coining the term Imad the Kermit) had the audacity of telling the world, the American government, the kidnapped journalists, and to everyone who wishes to visit Syria that they should all be GRATEFUL because of the “Show of Goodwill“ demonstrated by the Assad regime.
Bare with us for a moment.
Imad the Kermit, our honored Ambassador in Washington DC, ribbited his orders to Ahmad Salkini to announce to the world that Americans should be all thankful to the Assad regime for freeing two kidnapped US citizens without asking anything for return.
That is it folks.
Thanks to the US State Department, Americans going forward should be thankful to regimes of terror when they do not punish Americans. They should just fall on the ground, kiss it and say few prayers for the dictator who kidnapped them to live another 100 years. In fact, in this case, RPS will recommend to the US State department to distribute pictures of Baschar al-Assad to all American families to hang it in their living rooms, on their rooftops, over their barns, and as a sticker on their automobiles. That is how they should show how grateful Americans are. Are Obama's people in the US State Department already?
Imagine for a moment, if the Assad regime treats you as being that stupid, what he does to Syrians? Imagine the world Syrians live in and the fear they experience by thugs who have ruled our country for over 45 years? If you can, you will understand our mission.
Here is the story below, published by the Jordan Times of all places.
Syria- Release of JT journalists show of goodwill
Amy Habels - Jordan Times - 12/10/2008
(MENAFN - Jordan Times) A spokesperson for the Syrian embassy in Washington, DC, described the Syrian government's decision to release two Americans arrested for allegedly entering Syria illegally as “a show of goodwill“.
Ahmed Salkini told The Jordan Times in an interview that the Syrian government stands by its earlier statement that the two Jordan Times journalists, Taylor Luck and Holli Chmela, entered Syria through the northern border illegally.
The two journalists said they were kidnapped by their taxi driver and taken into Syrian territory illegally; there, they were jailed for eight days, beginning October 1. Both insisted they did not intend to break any law.
Salkini said Syria is not obligated to inform foreign governments when it detains foreigners for what it perceives as a violation of its law.
He said the incident is considered to be a breach of “national security“, adding that the northern border is a sensitive area, where additional troops have been deployed to crack down on smuggling.
No one at the Syrian foreign ministry in Damascus was available to comment on the issue Saturday, a holiday.
Taleb Qadi from the Syrian information ministry said he was aware of Luck's and Chmela's account through the media outlets, explaining that “the Foreign Ministry is the only party authorised to comment on the issue“.
Meanwhile, the US State Department expressed concern to the Syrian government that the two Americans were held for several days without notifying the US government.
While Syria is not required to notify Washington in such circumstances, State Department Spokesman Gordon Duguid told The Jordan Times in an interview from Washington, DC : “It would have been better had they notified us they were holding our citizens in order to resolve this issue more quickly.“
On Friday, US State Department Spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters in Washington that Syria is not obligated under the Vienna Convention to tell the US, or another country, when one of its citizens has been arrested.
But he added that Syria responded within hours to an inquiry about the two American citizens who were later released and allowed to return to Amman.
